About us

Bush Lemons is a Blue Mountains bushwalking and outdoors group. Whilst we predominantly identify as lesbian, we welcome all women who identify as queer, bisexual, non-binary, transgender

We walk mostly on the lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples.  We wish to encourage members to enjoy bushwalking, discover more of this beautiful area we live in, have fun and get fit, all in the company of other like-minded women. Bush Lemons began in 1996 and we usually have a bushwalk every weekend, as well as occasional overnight and extended walks, and camping weekends.  We also sometimes enter teams into endurance walks such as Oxfam Trailwalker and Trek for Timor.  Our members not only live in the Blue Mountains region, but also in Sydney, the central west, and other regions.

Our walks calendar is put together every 4 months so you can diarise walks that you are interested in.  Full details of upcoming walks (including a full walk description, where to meet, and how to book in) are emailed to members usually 2 weeks/10 days before the walk.  We do require that women book in for each walk so the walk leader can contact them if she needs to cancel or change a walk.  If you have booked in for a walk but cannot attend, it is your responsibility to advise the walk leader.  If the walk is cancelled or changed, the walk leader will contact those who have booked in either the night before (where possible) or the morning of the walk.  If you have never bushwalked, haven't done much bushwalking for a while or are unsure of your fitness level, then it is essential that you start with one of our easier walks.

Bushwalking is a great way of meeting others in a neutral space, making new friends, renewing old friendships, seeing the beauty of the bush, challenging yourself physically if you wish to do so, and being healthy and keeping fit.....we also have a lot of fun!

If you wish to join our group or have any questions, then please click on the membership tab.  We do not charge for our walks, and all our walk leaders are volunteers.

All women participating in any Bush Lemons activity do so at their own risk and are responsible for chosing an activity that suits their level of fitness, health and experience.  Please take into account any injuries or illnesses you may have, or may be recovering from, and check with the walk leader if in any doubt of any activity's degree of difficulty.
